More on my Millionaire Matchmaker obsession

Thursday, April 2, 2009 |

So...... you all know how I love to watch Millionaire Matchmaker? That show is CRACK I tell you!  Who the crap cares about watching people live together in a house, or work for Trump, or go to rehab, or try to date a perv rock star? People want to see total creeps try to date pretty girls who are willing to date them for their money........ and then see the creeps get ripped apart by Patty Stanger about their dating skillz or lack thereof. This is quality reality TV.

This is Shauna the lady millionaire. 20 yr old male models are lining up!

The latest season has me in it's grip. There are women millionaires....my favorite one was Shauna, botox and restylaned into a shell of a tight face. And wanted to find herself an Ashton Kutcher. They then paraded all of these young hot studs(seriously-drool) in front of her and they all claim they like her and are into older women blah blah blah. Are you kidding me? YEAH- you're into an older woman who is as hot as Demi Moore. Are you into a woman whose face has been tightened and frozen and who already has skinny frail old lady body? Seriously? No -that's right....you're into her money. Geez. I feel bad for women who can't read it when a man is lying. I mean Ashton didn't go looking for a hot mom to date. He just happened to meet Demi. Do you really think there are a ton of really really fine young men out there who WANT to be with a woman in her forties? I mean I know about the "cougar" thing but the women prey on them in that case. Or they are sick kiddos looking for a replacement mom. This is not a healthy form of relationship. And I feel the same about the reverse ....if men who are 50 think a 20 yr old hottie with her head on straight picks you as her first choice.....you are mistaken. Ask just about anyone......"would you prefer to marry a rich man who is within 10 yrs of your age or a rich man with a 20 yr age difference?" They will pick close to their age. Now ask "would you date a poor man within 10 yrs of your age or a rich man 20 yrs older?" and the answers get all mixed up depending on the person. And the difference was MONEY.

I mean- why are all of these people OK with being paraded like meat in front of millionaires? Money! And they're just hoping to find a millionaire who doesn't look like a troll. Or maybe only a little like a troll. It is VERY rare to see a couple together on that show that I think would last if the millionaire lost all their money.

The worst is that they pretend they aren't letting the millionaires "buy" a relationship. This is NOT like a dating in the real world. Or even like a normal matchmaking service. I mean- if they had real dating skills they would just date, and if they had a hard time meeting women they would join a normal dating service. They join Patty's service because they know that they will get to pick from a room full of perfect 10's who will all fake interest in them for the rest of their lives the way women in a dating service would not...because Patty's girls know they are millionaires. In a real dating service...these men could never find anyone without saying "I am rich".  And they would still get rejected by tons of women who could care less about your money if you are a robo-nerd or a creep. Patty weeds out the possibility that the women will reject you right off the bat. You have to work to prove to them the money isn't worth tolerating you.

Occasionally there are pretty successful women in the 10's and I think they really are just trying to find men who are motivated and successful like they are, but they NEVER get picked although Patty sets them up sometimes for mini dates.  The creeps and the nerds always go for the airhead 20 yr old. I bet the normal millionaires who want to date a normal good woman are probably not on TV. I admit it would be more like watching a wedding story or a baby story on TLC if they showed normal men dating. Gag. Who wants to see normal people date? Not me.
I am perfectly content to watch looneys buy themselves a date. Bring it on.

A New Financial Scheme

So here is a random thought I had tonight whilst watching Our Mutual Friend(an old BBC miniseries). Why on EARTH don't I make people pay me for information??? This is an industry I totally need to get into.

Me telling people crap=big bucks. How can this be a bad idea? I have sooo much information on my hands that could be put to good use paying off student loans and my credit card. Look at this dude. He is an actor named David Bradley. He is Filch in the Harry Potter movies and he was also in the BBC version of Vanity Fair(sooooo good). He inevitable gets paid off for giving info to investigators or blackmailers in every movie he is in.

He just looks like you need to pay him 20 bucks to go away and take his smell with him.......if not 100 bucks for info and then to go away with his bad self.

Is it my creepy factor? Do I not look like I have the kind of seedy info that people need to pay me for? On TV, PI's constantly pay people for dishing info. I really want to get in on that action.

Maybe I need to move to a city that has docks. Dallas has a shocking lack of waterfront sleaze property where info is bought and sold. Maybe working downtown on Harry Hines when I start at Children's will help me to enter the "lucrative info" industry. That is about the seediest location I can go.

I think I need to into a higher class level of info sales if you get my drift. For my own safety as well as I don't want to have to cultivate a smell. I see all kinds of suburban stuff and I've kept my mouth shut up till now. I think Plano and Frisco have no idea the resource I could be if I was paid well. Cha-ching! You have no idea the kind of drama I see at the Coit and 190 Walmart after 12 on a Saturday night... when the truly evil pick up food for Sunday potlucks. And you can find out about who I've seen there for only $20 (per person, some restrictions apply, 20 for 1st minute, and 48.95 for each addtl. minute).

Who danced with who at the dance you didn't go to? ( oh yes...I know..... and I also know YOU were not there ...and by YOU I mean .....everyone I know pretty much).

Who sat by who the Sunday you were out of town?( Yes, you could ask someone else, but ask yourself....who pays more attention this stuff ME or someone else??? I rest my case)

I foresee grand sums of money coming my way, Gold Doubloons, Kohl's Cards, Sweet Sweet Cash.

Erica's Sweet Info Hook-up is now Open for Bid'ness. And no I don't take credit cards.

Counting my leprechaun gold

So I just got a job for when I graduate this week. Finally an income!! No more student loans and credit cards! Bliss!

OK, technically I won't start my job until June 9th. And I probably won't get paid for a while after that, but I sure am excited already!

So once the big bucks are flowing in, I'll be able to pay off my credit cards in a few months and get an apartment again! YAY!!! And this time I think I want to live by myself....1st time ever to be roommate-less but I think I want my own place. I guess we'll see a while from now when I have to contemplate paying rent that's not split up at all.

So all of this is a while away and I have a million big things I need to be doing right now, but what have I been wasting my time doing? Looking at apartment searches online. I have to be honest- my original degree might be somewhat real estate related and I might ....LOVE...looking at floor plans. Seriously. I need to stop the madness and start my darn homework before it's due. (PS- Candice I love your complex's floor plans for some of the one bedrooms!)

It's sad. What else is distracting me from doing my homework right now? Trying to figure out if the little government incentive should be spent on a cruise in May after I graduate. Seriously- it seems like the government might have read my blog about a girl needing a vacation and decided to be my sugar daddy. Or pimp- technically Uncle Sam is giving me back my own money.

I love spending money I don't actually have yet. Wheeeee!

Financial Aid and the Single Girl

Dear Bloggy,

Please help me to figure out what to do. I am confused. Here's the situation. So ........I'm in school and can't work so I had to take out student loans. And I'm living with my parents so I can save more money and have less debt. The dilemma is this. How much should one beat one's self up for buying crap that is not necessary? Like entertainment. Or ummmmm.....Ok I admit I was gonna say clothes but you don't need to tell me. I have already bought too much so I have cut myself off in that aspect. Alright Bloggy....lay off... I thought we were friends. Those boots were totally cute and I needed a new purse and YES it couldn't wait 6 months. Anyways Bloggy can we get back to the subject......So what about a celebratory vacation upon graduation? Bloggy hear me out I have TONS of excuses.

1. Peer pressure- all my friends are totally doing it. I'm not going with my nursing friends cause all their plans involve binge drinking, but I bet I could totally find other churchy friends to party with me.
2. Timing- it may be the last full month I have off at a time for the rest of my life until retirement.
3. Reward- Bloggy I have burnt myself out and worked like a demon to get this freaking degree- I need a break.
4. Technicalities - I can pay for it a mere month later when I start working
5. Personal Happiness - If I always delay everything I want to do in life for practicality I will end up like my parents doing DIY projects because you can always think of a good use of your two weeks vacation at home. Shudder. Please Bloggy don't tell me never going on vacation is the right decision.
6. The Economy- Bloggy, I admit this is grasping, but with our failing economy my personal donation to the world of tourism may help a poor child eat bread for one more day. Or allow one shallow yuppie to keep their massive custom house for one more month before getting foreclosed. Really I need to exercise goodwill and faith in the dollar by spending some that I don't technically have yet. Trust me Bloggy- I have a degree in finance.
7. Terrorism - What if all the castles in Austria get blown up before I get to see them by some crazy Jihad attack on Austria because ...umm...crap......Ok I got it.......good one Erica......Wagner's unstable mental health caused him to create a beautiful castle dedicated to mythology...... WHICH does NOT include Allah. What then huh????

Bloggy tell me straight. Am I not totally justified? Give it to me Dr. Phil style. I can handle it. I am ready to take anything you might dish out, but I doubt you will. Obviously my reasoning is faultless. Most likely you will just have pity on me and give me some money to help a sista out.

Are you LAUGHING???!!!!!! Don't you DARE mention Suze Orman. I have told you already- I will be willing to discuss budgeting only AFTER I have an income. My delicate mental health is just not up to a close scrutiny of my finances at this juncture. I think I may cry Bloggy. I feel myself tearing up right now. Sniffle. Sniffle. No I am not doing this to manipulate you. My lower lip is not quivering on purpose and my puppy eyes are just shaped that way. I can't help it. I am sorry my crying makes you angry. So sue me. I can't even control my emotions...why should I be responsible if you obviously can't control yours. Fine Bloggy- everything's MY fault.

So ....ummm........are we done fighting? Yeah I hate it when we fight too. Somehow.... now I feel closer to you than ever though.

Bloggy- do you have any vacation time this year you could take in May?
